Frequently Asked Questions

Can MaxCut optimise non-uniform or irregular shapes?

Updated 1 week ago

Currently, MaxCut does not support optimization of non-uniform or irregular shapes , such as L-shapes, circles, or curved profiles.

📐 What MaxCut does support

MaxCut is specifically designed to optimize rectangular parts — it's an ideal solution for cabinetmaking, woodworking, or manufacturing workflows where panels and sheets follow a standard rectangular format.

This focus allows MaxCut to deliver:

  • Highly efficient sheet layouts

  • Fast optimization performance

  • Support for grain direction, edging, labeling, and more — within a rectangular context

❗ What it doesn’t do

If your work involves:

  • L-shaped parts

  • Curved or freeform profiles

  • Nested irregular cuts

…then MaxCut may not be the right fit for those particular needs.

💡 Looking for more advanced shape handling?

While MaxCut doesn't handle irregular shapes, you’re welcome to contact us if you’d like to share your use case — we always value feedback on how our users are applying MaxCut and where you might need more flexibility.
